Sentences from a childrens book.

OK, I bought a Japanese Tomika (r) childrens book. Very simple Japanese, all in kana. But it is my first book (weiii, its something to put in my scrapbook; Joe's first book (in japanese) - Age 16 LMAO)
Anyway, I haven't run these through a translator, and I used a dictionary when I couldn't get the word AT ALL.

Another point... Even if it says ne, I have left it out of my translations.

しんごうが あおに なったら わたろうね。
Cross over when traffic light changes to blue/green.
I don't understand with natta what the ra does to it... But yeah, couldn't think what else it might be.

あっ！バスが きたよ。
Ah! Bus has come.
(What is the deal with あっ？ I don't understand how you are supposed to pronounce it at all.)

やったー！ひが きえたよ。
Hurray! The sun has gone.
(Could someone explain? I just don't get this. And kieta made no sense, so I checked a dictionary for kieru and found 'to dissapear'. And why would you go 'yay' if the sun has gone?)

うみは ひろいね。
The ocean is wide. (This one was very easy...)

ポンプで みずを すいあげて ひを けす しょうぼ うしゃ。
Fire engine is used to pump water out to get rid of fire.
(Damn I struggled on this. I have no clue whatsoever.)

かさいげんばにとうちゃく！
Arrive at the scene of the fire.
(This one is hard... its only short but... it used 'scene of the crime' mixed with fire... when I first read it because on this sentence there were no spaces, I read it as かさ いげんばに etc and completely confused myself.)

Thats all I'm putting up for now. Otherwise I won't get any responses.

Struggling at this is what you get when you have to revise for exams. Now in a mad rush to learn some usable grammar and as much vocab as possible for my trip next month lol.

Of course, you can't. The absence of kanji makes it impossible for machine translation systems to identify meaning.

"Natta-ra" is conditional form.

あっ！バスが きたよ。

Yes, you pronounce it. The Japanese use this exclamatory word to show surprise, draw attention of others, etc.

You interpreted it wrong. "Hi" here is not sun 日 but fire 火 .
It means "Yay! The fire has been extinguished."

It is a sentence fragment: Fire engine that extinguishes fire by pumping up water.

Actually, I recommend putting only one or two at a time, rather than a list like this.
A single problem can require closer look and attention, as you can see in other threads here. If you put up a list like this, the explanations and posts become extremely difficult to follow, since members will be referring to various points and issues in a single thread.

I see the mistakes I made! I really am bad at Japanese now.

What kind of noise does あっ make? To type it I am having to put あった and then remove た so I get あっ. I can't find anything on it. I guess I will recognize it when I hear it though.

(I couldn't understand よくなって at all. Any clues? Lol)

(Seems like another sentence fragment.)

I wouldn't say it's an exclusively "Ak!" sound, it's more the meaning of it. I would say it like "Ah!"
Some of the other definitions on that page might give you a better idea.

Does the phrase よく なる make sense ?

To improve?

So Quickly improve? Similar to 'Get better soon' then...

It does. It is very commonly used in situations such as the one in Mage's post.

Another example : 「先生、私の英語の発音、どうでしたか。」

「前に比べたらすごくよくなったよ。」



To Mage, よくなる means "to get better". So the phrase in your sentence, はやく よくなってね means "(please) get better soon!".
