Hello. I enjoy playing Second Life. Some of the players perform as geishas with Japanese music, dancing animations and storytelling. It is quite interesting. I think that most if not all of the geishas who RP in Second Life are not Japanese. They all try to learn some Japanese words so I am making gestures to help this process. The gestures include the words in Japanese and English written in chat as well as spoken in voice and many have an animation such as bowing. I would appreciate knowing how to compliment a person's performance as a Japanese person would. When the performance is over and people are applauding do they give a standing ovation as might be done for an outstanding performance in the West? Would Japanese people cheer? What would a Japanese person say?

Firstly I shall welcome you to the forum, as this is in member introductions. As for your question I'm sure someone familiar with Geishas will put you right. If no response here try the traditions sub-forum.
