Reiki (霊気, レイキ) - spiritual practice

Hello,

I'd like to know whether reiki is popular in Japan in the same way it is popular outside Japan?
If I asked Japanese people in the street about reiki, how many of them would know this word and what it means? How many contemporary Japanese people know who is Mikao Usui?

I'm asking these questions because I was told that reiki that is so well-known and popular in the West is not known in Japan at all.

Also I'd like to know what people who do know about reiki think about it.

i was also wondering the same thing when i began studying Reiki..
i found that most Japanese people i've spoken to have at least heard of something like it. If they are not familiar with the word Reiki, they will usually understand when you explain it, because its related to other spiritual practices like Feng Shui, and may sometimes have different names, but in general, not everyone will know what it is, because just like in any other country, not everyone is spiritual.

i too, would like to know how Reiki is going in Japan.
i think younger people would be interested, as they are open to new fashions and healthy lifestyle trends.
