I noticed I'm accumulating little green bars and was wondering what the point system is like? How does it actually work, how many points does one bar take?

Just in case you haven't read this:
https://jref.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_rep

The green bar gives a general estimate of the rep points accumulated, expressed with words like "appreciated member" for relatively new members and "beyond human apprehension" like some of our veteran members, which you see when you move your mouse on the bar.

AFAIK, there is only one bar, and it doesn't grow any longer after a certain point. You only see the increase in numerical points in your User Control Panel. Hope it helps!

I had seen that but I was just curious if there was a table directly correlating the little phrases, the number of bars, and the number of points needed to reach each level. But if there isn't that's ok, makes it more fun I guess

I think I've seen a thead on how many points are needed to get one dark green block, how many points to reach the lighter green part of the bar, etc., but it's been long ago and can't be found in the search.

The little rules may have been scrapped. Mycernius or Uncle Frank may know. I'm sure Admin JP has the final answer.

I too would like to know. I received my first second green block.

Here is a thread that discussed rep points in 2005:

Obsolete - "Reputation Points" : RULES

Reading this, it seems that the admin(s) can exercise latitude on the blocks to represent rep points and the max (which appears to be 4000 rep points, at least at that time).
AFAIK based on my own rep points (which I keep disabled), the first 5 dark green blocks represent your first 1000 rep points, the second 5 lighter green your second 1000 rep points, and any additional blocks (green one shade lighter than the second set) represent additional points above 2000.

A veteran member has 6 of the lightest green blocks, meaning he has more than 3000 rep points.

Also, the rep points you give others differ by the rep points you have. A member receives more rep points from a member with lots of rep points than from a member with less.

Thanks epigine, that explains nicely the basics of the system and approximately how many points one accumulates vs. the lil green bars. I thought about turning mine off but I dunno the green is prettier
