Quick question about quantities

How do you express "some" in Japanese? Do you use 何+counter+か? i.e. この会社は何台か車があります。?

Yes, "some" can be expressed by "何＋counter＋か"
何本か、何匹か、何人か、何個か、etc.

e.g.
この会社には何台かの車があります。
（何台かの works like adjective to modify 車）
この会社には車が何台かあります。
（何台か works like adverb to modify あります）

So the following sentences makes sense?:
公園で何人かの人々と話していた。
公園で人々と何人か話していた。

新しい本を何冊か買った。
何冊かの新しい本を買った。

Your sentences about the new books are OK.

But you cannot say
公園で人々と何人か話していた。
Because you cannot "talk some" with people.
This sentence sounds like
In the park we were talking with people how many people (are there, or did something, etc.)

Unlike English, you do not have to make 人 into plural.
何人かの人 is OK. （何人かの人々 is grammatically correct, but do not sound very natural.)

I see. So that sentence would have sounded better without the plural people (because the "nanninka" part makes it plural in the first place I guess).

Another example : This is approximately 数日 I would think.

２９日にあなたが家に来て何日か泊まると伝えてあります。
