Questions about Visa for teaching privately?

Exactly how would you be able to go about obtaining a Visa to teach in Japan privately, for example at your house or in cafe's etc? I'm just very interested, as i know its easy for a foreigner to teach in Japan and get Long visas if they are going to a company, but how would you get a long visa to work there teaching privately? Or even better a permanant resident visa? I know thse are not easy to obtain but I would just like to know all ways and how long I could stay there for with certain visas?
 
According to the website of MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan), teaching English requires Working Visa and its status of residence is Instructor.

Validity of this visa is from 1 year up to 3 years, according to the site.

My understanding is to obtain a working visa for working as an English teacher, you'll need
- a university degree (or several years experience as an English teacher)
- a prospective employer as your sponsor

In case of private teaching, your students-to-be would be prospective employers but I'm not sure how much it is valid. Maybe it is easier to get a contract with a Language school as one of English teachers and later switch to private teaching. But this is only my guess, I'm sure there are many members who has the experience in teaching Japan and who will be able to give you more appropriate/precise advice.

I was just wondering, at the end of the 3 year visa, how would you sya for another 3 years for example? Would you be able to renew it?
 
I believe you can stay further if you extend the validity of the visa before it expires.

Of course, since you're still only 15 years old, this is all merely academic at this point.

If you wish to come to Japan for an extended period, I very, very strongly urge you to include the acquisition of a university degree in your life plans.
 
Oh yes don't worry, if you find my other thread below, you will see all of this. I am only asking aboutt his now, I don't plan to move to Japan properly until I'm 22, once I have finished my degree in university.
 
You're a wise fellow to ask early and arm yourself with the info for planning ahead. Normally we get this sort of question from folks who have waited until obtaining the educational background required for a visa has become impractical.

Just in case there is someone coming a little sooner, basically you cannot get a visa for teaching private lessons. For your first visa you need a sponsor ie: a full time job. After that you can "self sponsor" but this means part time jobs that add up to roughly a full time job not privates. Usually English teachers have specialist in humanities visas not instructors visas as those are for teachers in positions that require more qualifications such as universities and int. schools

For residency visa

You need to be in Japan for at least 5 straight years. Able to prove an appropriate amount of income and prove that you have paid all your taxes whilst living in Japan. So don't forget to pay your duew early on they can stack up quickly. If you get a 3 year work visa make sure you keep your job or find another company to sponser you when your renwel comes around you can't quit your job and expect a renewl.
