I wasn't aware of it either. And I'm glad they will soon disappear.

With just over two years remaining before the end of 2027, when many countries will prohibit the manufacture and trade of fluorescent lights, a large portion of Japan's public still seems unaware of the change. Surveys suggested that more than four in ten people were still unaware of the upcoming fluorescent light ban. Industry groups warned that switching to LED lighting required care, pointing out that improper installation could lead to accidents, including electrical fires.

An online survey conducted by Panasonic Corporation in September, involving roughly 7,000 people aged 20 to 70, found that 61.5% still use fluorescent lighting in their homes. When asked about their awareness of the phase-out, 42.8% said they had never heard of it, 47.9% had some awareness but lacked detailed knowledge, and only 9.3% said they understood the specifics.
