Even if lighting fixtures are relatively new, caution is needed when converting to LEDs. The National Institute of Technology and Evaluation (NITE) reported 12 incidents between 2015 and 2024 where fires occurred due to incorrect replacement of fluorescent lamps with LED lamps in existing fixtures. These incidents involved both "straight tube" and "circular" lamps, notably due to mismatched lighting methods between the fluorescent fixtures and LED lamps.
