Problem for teaching

Hi my name is Courtney. My boyfriend & I have been dating for over a year, he is my heart. He taught English in Japan for three years, & has been back in the USA for 2. He wants a career as a teacher, but so far has only been offered para educating jobs. This is frustrating for him, more so because all the hard work put into learning Japanese seems unrecognized here from a teaching stand point. His mom (teacher) & dad (nuclear scientist) recently moved off to Hawaii (last minute kind of thing, only place his mom was offered a job to teach for some reason, since his dad makes bank, they decided to pursue moms dream for a while). Upon moving to Hawaii they descovered Japanese speaking teachers are in demand. Now my boyfriend is interested in moving there, permanently if possible. The problems are that cost of living is high there. He can live with his folks for a short time, but can he live by himself in Hawaii on just a teachers salary? My experience is in customer service & retail management. I manage a sporting good store here in WA. I heard finding & acquiring jobs in Hawaii is hard, I would move with him in a heartbeat, but getting a job there at all looks bleak. It would break my heart to have him move there & be unable to go with him.... I've already cried my fair share about it. But what breaks my heart more is him be unable to acheive his teaching dream. He feels so unappreciated (job wise). Is there anywhere in the USA a non native japanese speaker (3yr experience) can teach? I don't know what to do. Please, any advice on how to make Hawaii more of a possibility, or any other routes we can take as a couple (or just him if I can't be a factor:,() to make the right steps for his teaching career would be much appreciated.
