Just got back from the post office. My two complaints thus far:

1: The new EMS simulator page has the countries listed in absolutely no particular order. I thought they might be listed by longitude or something like Japan is on many forms. But it seems like that's a negative. Takes ages to sift through all 250 some odd countries.

2: Customer copies of EMS sheets don't store the recipients address. The carbon paper only has the FROM portion. Lame.

Apparently the workers have it the worst though. They have to relearn their job.

Yeah, I bet whoever was incharge of paperwork and computer systems decided it was time to just change everything, and now the poor bastards have to suffer with someone else's bad idea

Where is this simulator? Is it on the internet or accessible in post offices?

Just e-mailed them that the renewal was horrible and suggested they should bring back the website of osaka international post office.

This was the useful site I used, though the penguins apologise in Japanese now...

If I remember correctly, the English page was also there.

From the main page, it shows you that there are three sections which are Japanese only (one of them is the EMS fee simulator). I'm going to whip up a form where I can list the countries alphabetically, and then send the values via post to their site. Just gotta get around to it.

A bit surprised at the quick reply.
But I am afraid that it will take another century just to bring back the site.

I'm not surprised, thats a canned (automated, generic) answer. You send an email saying you feel like eating fish for dinner tonight, and you would get the same email as a reply.

Will be a while before we get the same level of quality site back...

For shame, as this particular feature could be done in about an hour tops.
