Sometimes when I push the "New Posts" button to check for some fresh and interesting posts, I get old threads with new dates.. When I click the thread to look at it, the post-date and time doesn't match the date and time stated in the "New Posts" search.

It's not that bad, but I was wondering if I'm the only one experiencing this..

i believe those "new posts" youre seeing are all threads with polls in them.
they get counted as new if someone votes in the poll even without a reply to the thread.

Is there a way to stop this? It is rather annoying to see the thread pop up and the only reason is because the poll changed.

This trend has annoyed me as well. It's not that I want to just close all the polls to end the discussions, but it just bugs me when people will go vote in a poll, and then provide absolutely no new discussion to revive the thread.

That was my point as well. If you are going to take the time to vote in a poll, then at least make a post and contribute to the conversation.

Well, sometimes interesting older posts pop up.

Agree with Rock, even though it sometimes can be annoying when an old thread pops up, some of them are actually really interesting, and I am happy that it pops up.

But it would be much nicer if it would actually show who the last person that visited was! If I open an old thread because it shows Dutch Baka's name was shown last, then I find out that he hasn't posted in 6 months....it pisses me off! There is a way around it, I know...it's just a matter of writing the correct hack!

This was recently brought up in another thread, but I just noticed something that didn't receive mention.

I think it's reasonable for the posts to pop up after a poll update, and for the Last Post column to show the name of the last poster (not the last voter).

The problem is that the time displayed in the Last Post column reflects the time of the vote, so it might say
Last post - Today 13:14 by YaddaYadda
when the reality is that YaddaYadda posted 5 days ago at 3:39. This doesn't seem right to me. We should at least be able to see the time of the last post before we click. Anyone else agree?

I do not mind so much about it.. it can be annoying if pool is constantly being voting, and no new posts, but that is rare. I was surprised by that only once, when I was last who wrote something.. so I wondered what I wrote again, knowing that I haven't.

I do, if the member that voted in the poll can not be listed as was explained to me in that "other" thread then this would probably go a long way in helping to clear up the misunderstanding.

A forum can't be perfect for everyone.

Dutch I can only "speak" for myself here...this is a one of the "good" places to stop by, there was no intent on my part to suggest anything otherwise. I think I was just trying to suggest a way or ways that might make things a bit easier for people here to understand what is what.
