Hello everyone
I'm new to this site and to learning Japanese, but i was hoping to get some help with something
I have constructed the following sentence, and was hoping someone could translate it back into English for me to see if i've conveyed the intended meaning.
"ano, kare wa takai desu to gohan o yukkuri tabeta"
"あの、彼は高いですとごはんをゆっくり食べた" (for those who cringe at romaji)
Thanks guys

PS. If there's any adept speakers here who want to just outright tell me that i don't know the first thing about constructing Japanese sentences based off this, please do, that would help a lot.

The first half of the sentence あの、彼は高いですと doesn't make sense (especially 高いですと).

Could you please write what you meant to say in English, so that we can help you?

hrm... I was aiming for "well, he is tall, and eats rice slowly"

(Without changing your structure) - 「彼は背が高くてごはんをゆっくり食べる」
By the way, I see that you tried to write "well," as あの, which doesn't fit in here in my opinion. Maybe うーん would work better, it depends.
Such Japanese interjections are a bit tricky to use if you're not used to them.

Thanks
