I am currently using Pimsleur to learn Japanese. Everything is working great and I am able to hold lengthy conversion in Japanese with my fiancﾃｩe, who currently lives in Chiba. Yeah, we still have difficulties communicating with each other but we get by. Love is grand, huh.
She is learning the English language with workbooks and that is all. However, with workbooks she is not able to hear how to correctly pronounce some of the words. I am able to help her with those words most of the time but do to my work I am usually out of the country for months at a time and that hinders her from learning how to correctly pronounce those words. Most of our conversations over the phone are 窶廩ow do you say this and how about this word窶 Which makes for a fun conversation, because I get to try to figure out what she is trying to say. If I cannot figure what she is trying to say, she will usually end up spelling it out or getting frustrated, giving up and calling me a baka!
I would like to get my hands on the complete窶 Pimsleur - English for Japanese Speakers窶 series for her or another audio series that can help her. If I were a rich man, I would have no problem laying done $1000 on them, but I am not.
