Can there be more then one particle in a sentence and how would u no when to put one in?

Short answer is yes, long answer involves studying a Japanese textbook. If you have a specific question / situation / grammar point - please elaborate.

yes. umm...we usually after every word is a particle, exsept for adverbs, and stuff like that. well sometimes...its hard toi explain...heres some examples:

(watashi no) tomodachi wa koko ni suwarimashita.

literal: (i [no]) friend (wa) here (ni) sat.

My friend sat here.

Suki na dobutsu wa azarashi.

literal: like (na adjative thingy) animal (wa) seal.

My favorite animal is a seal.

Not only can there be more than one particle....there can be a particle directly following another particle.

Learning from a structured textbook would be a good start. I'm sure some people here can make excellent recommendations.

(And for the benefit of the old squares who have trouble understanding modern internet abbreviated orthography, please differentiate between "know" and "no").
