overqualified for NOVA?

hi,
nice forum - very informative!

my girlfriend and i are looking at doing NOVA for a year. i am in the final (4th) year of my 1st degree - a masters in physics - although it is an 'all-in-one', so i didn't do a BA beforehand. my gf has a BA and has some teaching experience.

do we have any hope whatsoever of getting accepted, or will they dismiss us as being overqualified? any thoughts greatly appreciated!

also, we chose NOVA mainly because they don't seem to mind putting couples together - anyone know of any other companies who will do this?

Since the only things they care about, beyond visa eligibility, are 1) a pulse 2) a presentable appearance and 3) ability to sign on the dotted line....practically their entire pool of applicants is overqualified. Don't sweat it.

I am a Nova teacher, and as much as I'd like to disagree with Mike, I really can't. As a matter of fact, there used to be a teacher in my city who had a masters in physics. Overqualification isn't really an issue.

As much as I hate to admit it, I've been a Nova teacher myself so I'd have been very surprised had you disagreed.

You should check out Dave's ESL Cafe (Home Page - ESL). It has a lot of information and job postings for teaching English overseas.

There's a forum specifically for teaching in Japan here.
