Inside Member's Relay Talk Vol. 2 Sakito & Ni~ya
The second shot of our relay format of our members' inside talk project this time is guitarist Sakito and bassist Ni~ya. Their common feature is... habitual smoking (laughs). With that said, they did this in a cigar bar in Roppongi with an atmosphere of adults flowing through the place. They talked about the theme of "grown men."

The theme is "grown men." What was your first image of an adult when you were a child?
Sakito: When I was in my swimming lessons during elementary school, my teacher's side part came off and I thought "Oh, that's what you become when you're an adult." I didn't want to be like that (laughs).
Ni~ya: Hm, probably a beard. I wanted to know how to drive either a car or tractor, so seeing someone handle it was really cool. I was still an elementary school student so I didn't understand the structure, but I had a really big interest in it.
Sakito: The image of your father may have been there as well when he's fixing a bike or a TV. That was what you wanted to become as an adult.
Did you want to be an adult really fast?
Ni~ya: No, I didn't feel that way. When I became a senior high school student, I wanted to have a part-time job and there was always time to be a kid, so I wanted to do something I liked. My parents worked everyday from morning to night and I felt something serious may have happened.
Sakito: I'm not the type to want to be an adult. I would study from elementary school to junior high, but from junior high to senior high school that became difficult. So becoming an adult increasingly became troublesome. On the other hand, you increase your knowledge through various people you meet through this sense of freedom. However, I don't want to be an adult but there's this charm in being one as well.
Well then, do you have this feeling of being an adult with just each other right now?
Sakito: Ni~ya's feeling of being an adult is not being sentimental as a habit no matter what. There's a distinction in that when he drinks though (laughs).
Ni~ya: (laughs) When I go in, it's a little dark so it might be disconnected.
Sakito: But, when you're with the members, you're the one that doesn't become sentimental. Along with becoming nervous from it, you don't show it on the outside, in your home, or in front childish people a lot (laughs).
Ni~ya: I show it~ (laughs). Sakito's feeling in in being an adult is being flawless at his job no matter what.
Sakito: (Shy laugh)
Ni~ya: Well, you're like that with the five of us around (laughs). With the exception of Ruka and I, we both like playing games in our own homes. Recently, I've played a little but Sakito hasn't really played as much because of his absolute concentration in doing music.
Sakito: In this case, I've cut down my bedtime little by little, even with my games. The time our songs come out for release, I often can't sleep on the day of the recording.
Ni~ya: I can't do that. I can't use my time well.
Sakito: But, it's remarkable Ni~ya can eat breakfast properly though (laughs).
Ni~ya: (laughs) Yeah~
Sakito: You may know the daily rhythm of your life the most.
Ni~ya: I'm a person who eats as soon as I get up.
This is in connection to meals or food?
Ni~ya: To meals. (I'd eat) Something like natto (fermented soybeans), sunny-side up fried eggs or miso soup. If I don't eat breakfast, my body and brain can't function.
Sakito: I don't eat (breakfast). A normal person usually eats breakfast around the time they wake up. I would eat every morning around 7-8 but I'd be asleep (laughs).
(laughs) That would be supper.
Sakito: Ni~ya is careful in taking care of his body and I ignore mine.
Ni~ya: Hahaha.
Sakito: Alright, my spirit is different when I drink supplements and my daily rhythm is messy. I think around the time for a meal, finishing a pill tablet is fine.
[Sakito is saying food should be in tablet form so it's faster to consume. Thinking like a rabbit much?]
Ni~ya: I can't do that. I don't even consider that kind of lifestyle.
Sakito: A meal only takes a minute to complete and that's fine with me (laughs). However, I like eating delicious food.
Well then, where do you think you two would feel childish?
Sakito: Ni~ya by nature likes things like kabuto (rhino beetle) bugs.
Ni~ya: I love them. My personality changed from when I was growing up in the mountains. Last year, I went back to my hometown in the summer and said, "Oh yeah! Let's go bug catching!" My hair was silver then and as one would expect, it was suspicious (laughs). That's why when I took my relative's kid with me, it was really fun finding a way to go kabuto catching (Joy)
When you're a kid you love insects, but a lot of people end up not liking them as they become adults.
Sakito: I'm exactly like that. Kabutos have an outer spine. When I was a kid, I would feed them and if I wanted to bring them home to play, I'd place them near my butt and they'd run away like "Pyu--" (laughs). The feeling of wanting to touch them disappeared. When you look at it, people do this as an instinctive thing. They would watch it and have a tendency to react with something like "Uwa."
Ni~ya: I can see Sakito's childish face the times we go drinking. The atmosphere also becomes that way during that time.
Would he want to dance?
Ni~ya: (laughs) Probably not.
That was unexpected to see that side come out wasn't it?
Ni~ya: Yes, I want to see an impression of *Maximum the Hormone in karaoke (laughs).
[*Rock band that has screaming vocals. If you've watched DEATH NOTE, you'll know they did the opening and ending theme.]
Sakito: The surrounding tension is twisted though. But for me, everyone may be childish on the inside.
Ni~ya: A child isn't unreasonable though, right? Sakito wants to take a risk in music in challenging himself. I think that's cool.
Sakito: I certainly might not think about the before and after. I do forget a lot of things.
While concentrating, are there other types of things you want to be better at?
Sakito: Yeah, there may be.
Like forgetting your mobile phone?
Sakito: I don't have my mobile phone, but I do leave my guitar behind during lives (laughs).
Ni~ya: Your wallet, probably (laughs).
Sakito: It's here. If I leave it at home though, I'd probably ask the members "Lend me 1000 yen." (laughs)
Then, what is the ideal grown male to you two?
Sakito: Not forgetting the judgment a child. Even if you become old, you'll still be at the same level of a small child when you play.
Ni~ya: That's right. When I was small, my related uncle played with me that differed from how my parents would, right? As far as a kid is concerned, playing together with other people makes you really happy. I want to be an uncle myself this way. But saying something like that doesn't mean anything unless you can do it properly.
Sakito: Yeah. When a child is scolded properly, we would like to become adults who can play together seriously.
Today's photo shoot location is a cigar bar where you're drinking whiskey. Is this what you admire as dandy grown men?
Sakito: Hm, in regards to dandy, probably a gentle-like man. Sort of like Johnny Depp (laughs).
I understand that kind of feeling.
Ni~ya: I don't want to change as a standard. I don't want the back of my body becoming curled up as an adult. [He doesn't want a back hump.]
No matter where a man is, they're cool. When they're in a pinch, they would almost say a joke.
Ni~ya: Yes, they would.
Lastly, what do you think you'll become ten years after?
Ni~ya: I have a feeling I won't change at all.
So you'll still be wearing leather 10 years later.
Ni~ya: (laughs) Yeah, maybe.
Sakito: Yeah, I have a feeling you won't change either.
Ni~ya: I think Sakito wouldn't change either and probably everyone else wouldn't also.
Sakito: Only about their "aging face" (laughs). The most dangerous one is Zozi (laughs).
When you say something like that, it may be a bad thing.
Ni~ya: (laughs) Oh, then I'll say it.
Sakito: Before this, I was riding in the car coming from the studio and everyone was saying "Yo-heave-ho." (laughs)
