Preparations for the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, scheduled to take place in July, began on Wednesday at the newly constructed IG Arena, now one of Japan's largest indoor facilities. An administrative office for the tournament, set to run from 13 to 27 July, was opened in Nagoya. The event will mark the inaugural use of the arena, with approximately 7,800 seats being prepared as Onosato makes his first appearance as a yokozuna. While the arena can accommodate up to 17,000 people, it is also set to host other major events later in the year, including the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December, and is equipped to hold concerts.
