Need translation of a symbol

Hi

I'm pretty new here and would really appreciate any help!

I'm looking for a translation of just one symbol.

Its the red one in the middle on the following picture:



I tried to find out what it means myself but
unfortunately without any success

Taking the underlying and superimposed characters as one almost comes off as a heavily stylized "玄武" (genbu?), which would be referring to a dark and mysterious warrior/samurai or some such. I'm not sure. It's probably just something made up for the characters name.
