Hi, I'm the new kid of the block. Thanks for welcoming me to J-Ref. I've been interested in Japan and everything about Japan for quite a while now. Guess how it got started? I've been self-teaching Japanese with lots of textbooks that i bought. I have been to some classes here and there, but sadly, I don't have much time for it now. That doesn't mean i gave up on it still.

I'm might live in Germany, but I speak English as you can see, and i even lived in the US. I might go back once I'm done with my studies here. I plan to study Networking and some programing on the side. But before i can do anything, i still have to overcome the language barrier. If you guessed German, then your right. Not to crazy about it though , I rather learn Japanese, which I still do.

In any case, I'm trying to make a program that translates some key words and phrases from and to Japanese. The thing is, is kinda hard to find the information i need, even with the internet. I never tried the forum approach though, so I though I'll give it a try. Which brings me back to that topic of this thread.

If you would be so kind, could someone please tell me all the phases of the moon in Japaneses? In kanji and its corresponding ending, if any. For example, How would you say in Japanese "Full Moon", and so on.

どうも有難う御座います in advance,

Wolf

There are some words related to the moon.

New moon: ツ新ナ椎ス shingetsu
Crescent: ナスO窶愿コナ椎ス mikazuki (meaning the moon on the 3rd day)
Half moon: 窶敖シナ椎ス hangetsu
Full moon : 窶毒セナ椎ス mangetsu

窶猫窶督セ窶堙固椎ス: ariake-no-tsuki (the moon that can be seen after the dawn)
窶吮??ツ秋窶堙娯?督シナ椎ス: chuushuu-no-meigetsu (the full moon on the 15th nights in August by the Chinese lunar calendar)ツ When it rains on that night and the moon cannot be seen, it is called 窶ーJナ椎ス ugetsu (rainy moon).
