How much money should i bring in a 5 days and 4 night trip to Tokyo?

Throw us a bone!!!! Staying where! Doing what? With whom? Buying what? etc.

Yes, it really does depend on how much you plan on doing in those five days, and where you'll be spending your money. Also, were you going on a business trip, or was this a personal vacation? If the former, how much of your journey is being paid for by the company?

The Pioneer company will pay all the expenses for 5 days..And the 5 days more i have to pay a hotel(but thanx to u guys), i already know the price for 4 nights, its about 320-400 USD in hotels like the toyoko-inn..
My plans is simple, just sightseeing in Tokyo and nearby city like Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya and Asakusa, and also plans to visit places of interest nearby..

Of course it depends on what you do; I would expect to spend an average of 40-80 USD a day if you're going to be eating out and maybe going clubbing a night or two, and have about two or three times that much money budgeted, just in case you decide to shop or something comes up. Of course, you could get by on much less, but for only five days, theres's no shame in splurging a bit.

I'd say if you're just gonna shop maybe once, $300 should do it. Let's say you ate out twice a day for 5 days and each meal was $8, that means $80 plus maybe $20 for snacks. And then you got $200 left for shopping and fun and all that. Hell, even $200 all-in-all is enough for 5 days (for me at least). I went to J from 6.12.06 - 6.30.06 (3-weeks) with $300 and came back with 90 cents. So $300 should be plenty.

Ohhh, this is non-hotel fees ^^^ btw. I don't know the prices of hotels since mine were already paid for.

For a 8-day stay, I usually bring around $1,500. But that includes paying for lodging.

maybe $700 to a thousand
it depends! tokyo has $30 a night hotels!
and yes this question has been asked plenty of times before. search the forums for more detailed info. hth out. peace.

Good suggestion mates, i'm very thankful for it..Japan here i come !!

1500. Max. I wouldnt bring less than 1000 if you can. Why? Because youre not JUST going to sight-see; trust me. You will stumble into a bookstore, toy store, gadget store, video store, etc. etc. - and SOMETHING is going to jump out at you, and you are going to WANT that something.

When I went for a week to just do "sightseeing" and what not - I brought about 800 and while I wasnt struggling - there was so much that I wanted to take back with me but couldnt, because of the money situation. Plus, you may want to get out to Yokohama, Hakone and surrounding areas - as well as drop bones at some of the parks located nearby. All in all - you want to be able to do all this w/o having to worry about "do I have enough money" to accomplish this.

It is better to have too much cash on you than not enough. I took around $1,900 with me last time for an 8-day trip and came back with around $300.

Personally, when I return around December - Im taking about 2500 to 3000 with me for a two week jaunt. The "better to bring too much, than too little" - is great advice for travel anywhere honestly.

Damn, is that for Hotel and shopping or just shopping lol ?!?

Safest bet is to bring as much as you need for expenses and other considorations, and times it by 2 or 3.

But then again I didnt have to pay for a place to stay.

Thatll include hostel, shopping, shipping items back (im planning on hitting up multiple cities - and dont want to carry anything - I learned my lesson last time), inter-city transportation and grubbing - plus any unforseen funniness.

I hope you are aware that shipping costs in Japan are very expensive. If you do ship anyway, please let us know what they charged.
