I think (now) nobody knows yet if it's a good or a bad think to choose a university part of global 30.
I used to think it was GOOD thing but now I am not that confident.

Anyway, you should choose your university according to your project, the professors and such, not thinking about the possibilities of getting selected or not.

I chose my university but didn't know about global 30, I chose my university because I found the perfect lab and professor to study

I don't think that choosing or not choosing a G30 university makes any difference.

Hi guys!am 16 yo and i'm gona apply for college of technology. The thing is according to the terms and conditions i went through, i can apply n 2012 test. But when i called embassy they told me to apply n 2013!am n 11th grade now and n april i'll be n 12th!applying for 2013 is like skipping a year!o.o so confusing!o"o

In my country, those who are eligible to apply for the MEXT undergraduate program must have graduated from high school. In your case, maybe in India applied the same requirement (since i don't know much about their regulation in another countries)

December selection

Hi every body. I received an e.mail today from my choosen university informing me that my name wasn't in the list transmitted to them by MEXT. That list is for university to confirm the LOAs for students in the list.
I wanted to know if it's possible to be selected finally even my name wasn't in the december selection.I'm so confused!

Did you apply for another university as well? I think it's too early for MEXT to make the cuts. I suppose they first ask for confirmation for all the candidates, and only after that they decide who gets the scholarship. But that's just my assumption.

From the threads of previous years, they normall make the decision and then contact the university. In another word, if they contact the university, you are likely to be accepted, but if you are not in the list, then you are kinda in danger.

Seems like MEXT is starting to contact the university for acceptance now. I'm sorry to hear your fact. Is the university your only chosen university? If not, perhaps they will allocate you to another university.
And may I ask which university is it (Your chosen university)?

I've looked into this G30 program for a long time. Actually, it has nothing to do with this research scholarship by embassy that we are talking about. Will not affect you at all whether or not you choose a university that's in this project to apply.

Hi! did you ask for LOAs to other universities? Which is this university that let you out of their list?
Don't lose your hope. Maybe MEXT will find you another university.

We just have to wait, please be patient and pray

I already emailed my professor several days ago to ask him to contact me once MEXT has found him to sign some documents. He didn't seem to understand but he said he'll keep in touch with me.
Exciting end, hope it's gonna be good.

Hi everybody, waiting is killing me indeed.
I was going to email my professor to ask if MEXT sends any document of mine to him and his university but I didn't. Our relationship is not very good, I made a bad impression on him so I don't want to make the situation even worse. I choose to wait. Perhaps, in two weeks, my professor will contact me if he is kind and I am lucky enough. Or I'll have to wait till January to hear the announcement from MEXT...
Anyway, I agree that, everything is on the way, so do not give up hope till the official result come out. Because MEXT could choose another university for us if MEXT find that it's better for our studying...

I sent an email to my prof's secretary this morning. She replied and said they received no news yet

Oh my God,I have received an email today from my prof, telling me that MEXT has contacted the university concerning some matters. Seems they are sending out their decisions. Don't worry, as I believe that process will take a lot of time for all foreign students, maybe some will only find out in January or so. But I am so relieved!

So, I hope that we all get the good news soon! It's the best Christmas present!

One more thing - did you get your LoA in time? I received mine about half a month after the deadline, and in the embassy were kind of worried and told me I'm a bit late, so I'm not sure if MEXT even has my LoAs now. >_<

Well, guys, congradulations for those who got positive reply from their professors on MEXT contact. Please write down the university for other's reference.
Hope everything goes on well for everybody here. Our killing time of waiting is coming to an end, finally!

Peter, Embassy in my country (Poland) told me, that there was no deadline in delivering the LoA to Embassy. Though, they asked to do that ASAP. I sent my LoA to Embassy in October. When did you do that?

We received first screening results very late. As far as I remember, it was in the middle of August.

And about you, sat. Which University contacted you? Just to know which University already received the MEXT comunicate.
Did you send LoA's from other universities? Or maybe, MEXT will be placing you in other university that they think can fix better to your study plan!! Let's think positive!
