Meaning of ん (n) or なん (na n) after adjectives

In these two examples, what is the meaning of ん grammatically? I can't find the grammar reference:
なんて可愛いんでしょう。(Nante kawaii n deshō.) How cute!
私は雨が好きなんです。(Watashi wa ame ga suki na n desu.) I like rain.

～んです (or ～んだ) is a pattern for adding emphasis: it adds a feeling of "as a matter of fact, ...". It is added onto the end of the sentence; if the original final verb was です or だ, it is replaced by な (i.e. the second sentence was originally 私は雨が好きです).
