Manga Partner

I'm interested in trying to partner with a Chinese person or someone who can write in a dialect of chinese and draw in the manga style. I would like to put together a manga with them. Anyone know of someone who might be interested or somewhere I could go to find someone?

there are too many dialects in China, cantonese may be a choice and it is popular in China.

Here's my story. I have a podcast. It's called The Summoner. I'm not sure if I am allowed to put a link to it on here but it is on podomatic. It is a SciFi Fantasy story about a place called the Yellow Realm (Universe).
I had hired someone to do the artwork for me but he was only able to do 3 issues. So, I am starting over with that. The podcast is actually on its 7th issue. I would love to have this translated to Chinese. I would love to get it read over in China. The Chinese economy is going to be the most powerful soon so I have a chance to be widely read if I can get my foot in the door. It would really be great if I had a partner that could draw as well. But that part isn't going to be necessary anymore because I've basically hired a person to do that again.

I'm open to providing links to the old 3 issues if your friend wants to have a look. The artwork is not manga. I want it to be manga so that is why I am starting over. Please listen to my podcast if you get a chance. Your friend could maybe do a Chinese podcast of it!

The translator would not be an employee. They would be a partner. Right now I pay 100% for the issues and so I own the story and the characters. But if the translator put their translation efforts into the books then they would own part of the translated issues in my view. So, if I made money off of the translated issues they would get part of it. How much? Well, my partner and I would have to discuss what is fair.

So the artist gets paid regardless, but you expect the translator to put in the work on a contingency basis? You do realize that the translator will own the rights to the Chinese translation, don't you? As it will be a derivitive work it can't be published without the consent of the holder of copyright on the original work (you), but neither can you use the translation without the consent of the translator (despite your owning the storyline and characters).

If you seriously think you have a marketable product here, you ought to get your ducks in a row regarding all arrangements and understandings about copyright, ownership, money, etc.

A partner does not get paid but they own part of what is created. That is fair. I have no problem with that. Their translation + my story + my characters equals an issue. If I sell one of the translated issues then they receive part of the payment. In the long run a partner could make a lot more because they could stop translating but still make money for years off of sales.
A partner is someone who will stand by my side. They have a stake in my success and I have one in theirs. For example, let's say there is a Chinese advertiser who is interested in the book. I do not speak or write Chinese so my chances of getting a deal is 0. But a person who can speak the language does have a chance. And since they are my partner we will both make money the more profitable the business becomes.

Exactly! We would need each other. We would have to come to an agreement as partners for us both to make money.
Right now I am 100% owner of everything. Once I find someone interested in becoming a partner then we will discuss their role and my role and its worth to the business. We will have agree on all of this before I accept them as a partner.

Last thing, the artist does own copyright to the artwork unless you have some sort agreement in place stipulating that you own the copyright. Make sure you have all that straightened out and on paper before you get too far down the road and potentially find yourself unable to use artwork because of some disagreement. Don't operate on the assumption of "I paid the artist so I own the artwork".
