now 61 pages! ^-^ maybe kamijo will be in green or never cage costume..yea it be cool if he were in normal clothes but if he's trying introduce Lareine to peoples I think costume would be a good way..

That's a shortened version of a questionnaire from early 1999 when I first made this site. *LOL* I don't even know where to begin to try to make it current. ^^; Here are some updates, gleaned from various recent interviews and instore event questions...

The last scent he's mentioned is Chanel Platinum Egoiste. Previously it was Felissimo.

Nowadays he always mentions unagi (Japanese eel) as his favorite food. He's been passionately complaining about encounters with much-hated garlic since 2000. His dislike of garlic is notorious. He still mentions liking pasta though, specifically Mayu's tarako spaghetti. (Tarako is a Japanese-style sauce with fish roe.) In answer to the question "rice or bread?" (no, I don't know how fans come up with these questions either) he answered rice. Specifically, natto rice. The whole band likes natto rice. (Natto is a gloppy stuff made from fermented soybeans)

Hi, I'm inertia. I'm an American who's been living in Tokyo, Japan for 4 years. I've attended many Lareine concerts and instore events, and will try to attend Fanime as well. I used to cosplay Kamijo; if I go to Fanime, I might bring a couple of my costumes to be conspicuously supportive.

Kamijo doesn't really use cologne. I used that awkward wording to try to reflect the fact that while he *writes* about certain scents, neither I nor any of my friends have ever actually smelled anything except shampoo, hairstyling products, and cigarette smoke on him. (LOL) I didn't write it in that profile, but the last time his weight was mentioned (a couple of years ago) it was 55 kg. I saw on previous pages that some people were concerned about how thin he appears... Kamijo looks healthy IRL. He has a very small frame so it's natural for him to be slim.

I sincerely hope he does not wear the Never Cage costume to Fanime. It is in visibly poor condition. The green one is a bit risque, though... Perhaps since it's an anime con, he'll wear "Bara."
 
hahaha interesting? i never really paid much attention to their perfumes or watever =P but haa ill smell kamijo if i see him... and go "ahh you smell like heaven!!!"

Kamijo doesn't smell like anything, really. The only times anybody's even smelled his shampoo is when he stagedived and their faces were *right* against his hair. I'm not sure about the cigarette smell... I'm a smoker too so it's hard for me to tell, but Pianissimo Ones have some special ingredient which is supposed to produce less smoke/smell. Anyway, aren't CA laws really strict about smoking now? Poor Kamijo's probably not going to be able to smoke enough to leave a scent.

I hope I'm able to make it to Fanime. Kamijo's first overseas appearance is a really important event for the band and I want to be there to support him at it. ^_^ I hope lots of fans are able to show up.
 
hahaha kamijo stagediving is something i would have to see for myself to believe... he doesnt seem like someone who would do that =P but.. one day... i will go and be able to see their concert =D and hopefully, he stagedives then =P actually... no no i take it back... i wouldnt want him stagediving =P its dangerous!!!

im not too sure about CA's smoking rules? but i imagine kamijo can smoke at the convention? maybe he'll take lil breaks and smoke then??

i wonder if he's considering to do a concert here? that would be like HISTORY IN THE MAKING =D hey inertia, are you gonna fly to america? if you are... then WOW.. if i had money... AND permission, i would do that =P haha but im stuck here =*( and can only hope that lareine comes and does a concert here!! i sooooooo want to see them live!

Kaine, come to think of it, you made a good point about how dangerous stagediving is. At last year's twoman with Fatima, a girl got hurt when he landed on her head at that show. Until then, he'd dived many times that year, at nearly every concert where the audience was close and crowded enough. It was like having the dangerous New Sodmy Kamijo back. But he seemed to feel really badly about the injured girl at the twoman and I don't think he's dived since.

I'll fly to America for Fanime if I can use my frequent flyer miles. ;P If it was a oneman concert I'd definitely go even if I had to pay full price for a plane ticket, but since it's just a one-person talk event I'll only go if I can do it cheaply. (LOL)

If Kamijo is going to the US for a promotional event, doesn't it seem likely that the whole band will return later for a concert? I think surely you'll be able to see them live sometime!
 
awww poor girl!!! hahahah kamijo being a kind hearted man, i would definitely think kamijo felt bad =( well good for him for stopping =) its dangerous to him and the audience =D we'll just have to be satisfied with watching =)

oOo smart smart idea for using flyer miles =D i totally understand doing it cheaply for a talk event =) but still, you're such a supportive fan =D im sure he must be thrilled to know he's got fans like you!! have you ever talked to him?? AHHHH if u have... omg... i would LOVE to be you =)

i sure hope they do a concert here =D kamijo's checking the scene =) probably seeing if lareine would gather a lot of fans yea? im so glad they're getting more out there =) kamijo should know... he's got bazillion of fans all over the world =D

hm... i was wondering... you think we'd be able to give gifts to him at the convention? i wanna make something special for him =) but i dunno wat yet =P all i know is, itll be made with tons and TONS of love =)
 
Yes, I've met Kamijo. ^_^ Lately Lareine hasn't been doing talk/handshake events to promote their new releases (it's been short acoustic shows at Third Stage without a handshake part), but they used to do it for just about every release.

Kamijo is nice. He's polite and very outgoing. If he can tell that you're a special fan of HIS (as opposed to a Mayu or Emiru fan), he'll make more of an effort to be nice to you, but even the fans of other members often say that Kamijo was friendlier to them than the one they went to meet. He has a good memory for faces, and recognizes all the fans who usually go to Lareine concerts and events.

Do you know Japanese? He's really friendly and outgoing if you speak Japanese to him, but he's not very good at English. However he does know some, so if you speak simply, with short sentences and basic words, I think he'll understand it pretty well. At least, he's willing to try. Kazumi might have tried out some English too on overseas fans (not sure), but it seems like Mayu and Emiru don't like to speak English at all. Maybe that's why they're not going on this trip.

I would imagine you can probably give him gifts at the convention. I don't know how things are done at American cons, but at a handshaking event in Japan, you can always give gifts to the artists at the time you meet them. Or you can ask the staff to give it to them. Don't feel like you have to give him anything special, though. When fans ask what kinds of presents he'd like to receive, he often answers "fan letters." So I think just that and/or a drawing would be fine. He has to bring it back to Japan so small things might be best.
 
OMG!!! lucky girl you are!!! hahah aww kamijo is just how i imagined him to be =) polite!!! omg -_- you think i can learn how to speak japanese before may 26 rolls around?! hahahaha i dont think i can =*( but i will try to learn little phrases... like... "you're a wonderful singer and you've created the BEST BAND... and I LOVE YOU!!! COME HOME WITH ME =D" jk jk =P i dont want to scare him... but goodness... it makes me soo queasy to think im actually gonna see him.. its been... a dream of mine for the LONGEST time...

its so nice that hes good at recognizing faces =D wat an amazing man =P haha its kinda sad that mayu and emiru dont like to speak english... but they should have accompanied kamijo =) i wonder if kamijo's nervous bout coming here? not that he should be... but... this is the first time rite? and he's all alone

Hi Feb! It's nice to meet other Lareine fans here! ^_^

Kaine, can you really get blue roses in CA? If you could give Kamijo a real one, even if it was wilted, he'd be amazed. Real blue roses don't exist in Japan.

If that sample is what you want to say to Kamijo, I think he'd probably understand it even in English. If you take out the "and"s so that it's short sentences, and maybe switch "created" for a simpler vocabulary word, he'd definitely understand everything. That's the kind of English he can deal with. Just don't hit him with anything slangy or unnecessarily complicated. Recently I was out with a group of mixed Japanese/foreigners, and the conversation hit a roadblock when one of the foreigners asked a Japanese girl, "So how's life been treating you?" She didn't understand it at all, that kind of English isn't taught in basic classes. But when the question was rephrased as, "How are you?", she understood it perfectly and could answer in English. Just imagine the kinds of things you learned in the first year of your high school foreign language lessons, and whatever you could have said in that language then, Kamijo can probably understand in English.

But if you can learn a few phrases in Japanese, it'll be a really nice courtesy. ^_^

And yeah, he's very polite to fans... I don't know how he is in private life among his close friends, but he obviously believes that musicians have an obligation to be respectful to the people who support them and always tries to conduct himself well when meeting fans. That can't be said for many visual kei musicians, who do rude things like falling asleep during instore events, or get drunk at official band/fan after-parties and say inappropriate things. Kamijo is much too professional to do that, and I have a lot of admiration for him for holding so strongly to this good attitude.
 
hahaha i dont think i can get a blue rose here either... it was only after i checked that i found out that they dont really exist =P or at least, are hard to breed or something? HAHH i thought roses existed in all colors =P shows how much i know about flowers =(

AHHHH wow +) hahaha im soooo glad kamijo is like that =D wat a mature and elegant man he really is!!! it would have sucked if he acted that way in front of the camera and onstage but offstage was a total jerk -_- that would have traumatized me for life! thanks so much for all these advices =) i will definitely think of something spectacular to tell him... he's quite knowledgeable of english if he understands that much... i wonder if he wants an english teacher!!! ILL BE HIS ENGLISH TEACHER =)

After 15 years of research, the japanese company 'Suntory' (the brewery) has developed a blue rose....(with some help from an Austrailian company).

You can always try to create your own blue rose with the use of some caramel color (is that the English word for it?). You buy a white rose and put it in some colored water, then the flower should get blue I can't guarantee the result, but you should give it a try!

I love the CDs! Winter Romantic is awesome! The best version of "Kyokutou no Koibito" ever! ^__^
 
I think I've seen those before but thought they looked violet or something so I forgot but if they do exsist that be nice to give kamijo one! or we could always try the white rose in blue pigment stuff experiment >_> give it a try FEB-sama now I'm curious if it works ..
._. I want to hear new lareine music *sadness* but my cd's probably won't get here till end of the month..maybe they come earlier *goes check order status*

Feb, total agreement on "Kyokutou no koibito"! Kamijo's singing feels more vulnerable than usual, yet Mayu's new guitar arrangement sounds so much heavier than Luca's, and I think the contrast is wonderful. You got the live CD too, right? What do you think of it? I was thrilled that they included "Darkness". I really loved the way they play it in concert but I thought neither of the studio versions captured that powerful sexy feeling well, so I'm glad they eventually decided to go all the way with that and make the most easily available version a live one.

That rose isn't available for normal sale here yet...
 
I'm really impressed with the sound quality! And I have to say I'm amused by the fact that they used a pic of Kazumi's arm as the front cover ^_^; Do you know who sings on "Doukeshi no Bukyoku"? It's not Kamijo, so I'm a bit confused. Is it Mayu?

Yeah, I too think that this is the most interesting version of "Darkness", even though it's not my favorite Lareine song. Man, I love this band! ^_^
 
That song isn't "Doukeshi." Somebody uploaded the wrong track names to your CD player's database.

It's Mayu's solo, and yes, Mayu is singing. I'm not sure what to call this version of it, though... This was the way Lareine played it originally at concerts, never giving it a name, and then they rewrote the lyrics for Kamijo's vocals and released it as "DRESS CODE", the c/w for "Cinderella Fantasy." I don't know if the Mayu version should also be called "Dress code" or if it's just "Mayu's solo." They should have included a track listing. -__-;
 
Umm... somewhat off at a tangent, but I did an experiment once by putting the stem of a daffodil into violet ink, and it turned the daffodil violet - so it would be worth trying with a white rose in blue ink!
