Just came across a story about the Chinese toy , "Labubu". I wondered if it ever took off in Japan. The story sounded a bit like the old Cabbage Patch Kids craze.

I think it originated in Hong Kong. It's quite popular, apparently.

My son told me about this before my trip to Japan last week. The idea was that if it's cheap in Japan perhaps I could buy a few and resell here. Online it seems it's also popular/expensive in Japan so I didn't really look into it further. And when I was there I didn't run into them at all.
