"Samurai" Kobe Beef Steak Burgers (侍 "SAMURAI" 神戸牛ステーキ), a unique fusion of gourmet Kobe beef with Japanese onigiri, has become a smash among international travellers at Kansai International Airport in Osaka. Despite their premium price of 5,500 yen (approximately $35), these burgers have been incredibly popular since their debut in December 2023.

The high demand for these luxurious burgers has led to frequent sell-outs. Only 80 burgers a day are available at the Onigiri Burger shop near the international departure gates. Needless to say, this limited supply contributes to the appeal of these exclusive treats for departing travellers.

It feels a little like a waste to use the most prime of beef in this way, doesn't it? If I want to eat Kobe beef, I want to sit down and relax and savour it - not scarf it down as a handheld lunch. I'm not saying it isn't delicious or anything, I just think certain things should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
