help !! i am in los angeles and am trying to find whole pieces of dried bonito / katsuo bushi. I would order it from Japan but I have not been able to find a source for it. :?

All help appreciated ......... thanks johnptc

There are on-line stores like this one http://nandemoya.shop-pro.jp/ that cater to the Japanese folks living overseas. I have checked out their site and they have whole Katsuobushi for sale.

I also found this site for a store by the name of Matsugae-ya. 出雲の乾物店 松ヶ枝屋 They specialize in dried goods and they carry whole katsuobushi (and they ship overseas).

I hope you read Japanese because both pages are in Japanese. The process doesn't seem that complicated but you actually have to correspond with the merchant/s regarding the shipping charges / credit card verification, etc., so you do need to know Japanese.

Another thing you should try is to find a local Japanese food store (I KNOW there are more than one in the LA area) and have them special order. Even if the suppliers they use do not carry whole katsuobushi, maybe you could ask them to buy them from the sites like the ones above for you (for a fee, of course).

Good luck!

thanks.... no i dont speak Japanese but its easy to enlist some help ..........there are at least 2 or 3 people in LA that speak and write Japanese
again thanks for the help !!!!!!!!!!
