Article Josei tennō: Japan's empresses regnant

This is still a work in progress. I drafted it some time after the 2011 earthquake, but never finished it. I'm planning on adding more biographical data and a few words on the issue of female succession to the Chrysanthemum Throne shortly.

Though Himiko was probably more of a spiritual leader, a shaman queen, than an empress.
