Iwoto and Iwo Jima

I see a Japanese island named Iwoto is in the news because it is having volcanic activity. It's important to know that in Japanese it's called Iwoto but in English it's called Iwo Jima . This island is well known to English speakers because it was the site of an important WWII battle. I am sure many people who speak either language are not aware of the name it is called by in the other language.

There is a US Navy ship named the USS Iwo Jima and there are several English movies about the battle.
