IT Position in GABA?

Hi Guys,

I received an interview request from GABA for an IT position. I know what GABA is but I just wonder how big is their IT department, if anyone knows?
Seems like during the second interview, there will be a writing test. What would this test be like? Is it an English/Japanese language test? Personality test? Skills test (in my case, programming test)? I am asking because I have the impression that their IT team is small if not non existent and the new hiree will be the only person taking care of their IT stuff. In that case, it doesn't make sense if it was a skil test.

Also, can anyone in IT industry advice what is the appropriate salary range to ask for a web developer with 9 years experience in the finance industry? I am really clueless reading all the previous posts..

If passing a personality test were a requirement for working in IT then we would all still be sending telegrams and have phone numbers like "two shorts and a long".

Interviews can work in both directions; you can ask them about their IT department during the interview. You can also ask them in the first interview what the nature of the written test in the second interview will be.

I'm going to bet they'll give you the same essay/writing test they give to their English instructor applicants. Not because it makes sense to do so but because they're simply following the procedure they always follow. (Please let us know how it goes.)

im thinking this might be the case as well but owh well i'll give an update.

They have a website and an intranet for coordinating lessons with instructors, so they must have some kind of IT department already in place, surely...

they rely quite heavily on IT, as their whole scheduling and feedback system is web-based. I don't know how big their IT team is, but it seems unlikely that it's all the result of one person's efforts. I heartily agree that interviews are two-way. You aren't just going to them begging for work; you are learning whether you're a good fit for each other. If you think this way, and value your own skills as a professional, you can enter negotiations with confidence, which can't hurt your chances.

I'm quite interested in learning more about this though, please keep us posted.
