Info required-Work for finance people

Hi,
I know Japanese and have been working in an IT company on Japan-related projects. I want to settle down in Japan 'coz I like the country very much, but I can't 'coz my husband does not know Japanese. He is a finance person, to be precise, a company secretary, working as senior mgr.
I want to know if there are jobs for such people.
Your answer will really help me a lot.

To what level do you "know Japanese"? JLPT 1? 4?

What do you mean by "Japan-related topics"? Does that involve use of the written/spoken language?

You like the country, but have you ever been here? What do you base your like on?

Yes, there are jobs for people in finance. Look at www.daijob.com/en for tips and ads, but you will see that a high level of Japanese is usually needed.

As for your husband, what does he want to do here? What are his qualifications (and yours)?

I have fair idea of Japanese. I am level 1. "Japan-related projects" means the projects where spoken, written Japanese is involved. I am working on such projects. I handle client interaction, managing projects, translation, interpretation, etc. I have been to Japan several times. "I want to settle down in Japan" means there are many projects in my company which require me to go for long term like, minimum 2 or 3 years. But I cannot think of it since I am married and I definitely want to go with my husband. However, my husband does not know Japanese, not even basic. Therefore, I wanted to know if there are jobs available in Japan for him (in the Finance field) who know only English and no Japanese. So that we both can work in Japan.

If your husband doesn't know any Japanese at all and wants a job in finance, he will either have to be a big executive, or lucky enough to land a job with a foreign firm that doesn't require much if any Japanese. Rare but possible. Look HARD.

If you land a job, he can still come and stay on a dependent visa (which permits work with special permission, but only PT work). If he wants to work FT, then he will have to fulfill immigration requirements, which usually means 5-10 years of work experience for non-teaching jobs.

For many of us, long-term is not 2 or 3 years. That is relatively short, but thanks for explaining in detail.

But even if he will do PT, Japanese will anyways be required, like baito and all, isnt it?
i know, 2 or 3 years is not really long-term. But, though I have been to Japan several times, my maximum stay was only for 4 months, so for me even 1 year is long enough

My husband is a company secretary, which means his job is mostly concerning the laws in finance pertaining to that very country. Presently we are residing in India. In case he think of moving to Japan with me (I will be coming to Japan on work visa), he need to study the laws (tax, budgeting, etc) of Japan.
Do you know any school, etc in Japan which impart short term courses in Japan finance laws?

Chirpy,
People live in Japan for decades without learning much Japanese, and there are jobs that don't require much. If this is so important to both of you, he should learn as much as possible.

I do not know where he could get the studies he feels he needs. Who knows if he is even qualified? Go to www.daijob.com/en and ask Terrie Lloyd.

I guess, as you mentioned rightly, I should not worry that much. After going to Japan I myself should see if some good job available for him.

There front page says so, but you can search on there website listing your Japanese ability as none. I've found a few positions in Tokyo listed this way in Accounting/Finance. Lots more under IT.

It's very similar to daijob.com, Actually, I normally see more finance positions (with little or no Japanese ability) posted on careercross.com
