The 250,000-square-metre Fukiage (吹上) Garden on the Tokyo Imperial Palace's western grounds will allow visitors to come across endangered plant species. The tours will be offered on 14 April for people aged 70 and over and on 4 May for those of junior high school age or older. Three tours will be held each day, with around 30 people participating in each round.
The Fukiage Garden is home to Japanese chinquapin and evergreen oak trees, wetlands, ume thickets and other natural features scattered across the forest. It also contains the endangered Ranunculus ternatus, the rare Cephalanthera erecta orchid and the vivid Meehania urticifolia perilla. The tours were cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
