SO I was picking my fiance's friend and started randomly typing english to her.

"Hello, How are you doing today?" I wrote. She quickly understood this sentence. So then I wrote. "Good Job, looks like you understand more english than you say you do". My fiance understood most of the sentence except for the "you say you do" part". HOw would you translate that?

「前よりもっと英語がかりますね。」どう言うかな？
「前に言ったよりもっと英語がわかりますね。」

I wouldn't trust my skills if I were you, but I'd say choose the second by gut.
言ったよりもっと sounds right to me. I mean, I haven't seen this exact example, but if you can use 思うより it would sound right to write 言ったより.
Don't take everything I say at face value.

がわかりますね。」 is a little strong in my opinion. Almost like you're accusing them of a big lie.


言っていたより英語ができるじゃない。(上手じゃない)
