Yikes, Kirei that sounds horrible.. I was stung almost 30-40 times on my head by a big nest of wood wasps, my first day of school while waiting for the bus! lol, It seesm to always be like that, 1 stings u then here comes like 80 more...

Those things certainly do sound like a menace! Where I live here da hood, the main fear is lead poisoning, often administered from a gun!
 
Well sounds all nice and friendly there. I mean as long as some giant hairy spider doesnt freak me out, or a little poisonous one like a White-tip or redback kills me, some snake gets inside and kills me, giant ants or dangerous wasps. I could go down the beach but the sharks (bronze whalers, great whites) or jellyfish (box, normal but painful ones) or blue ring octopus could kill me. Spiders, Snakes, Sharks, too many of the &^*# things

Actually Chiba hosts some big *** mukade as well. The biggest one I've seen, must have been at least 13 cm, nearly ran over our bare feet as we were standing in street outside Iwafune (inaka surf break in southern chiba). sweet dreams

Here in Arizona, the West Nile disease has put about 280 people in the hospital and has killed 2. those are some bad reports considering the recent spread a while ago.
 
I once was mowing lawn and I hit a hive of ground bees on accident and before I knew it I was overtaken I dont recall how much I was stung but it had to be right around what kirei's incident was but after I was stung I ran in the house and jumped in a cold shower to get them off of me.

I also remember i was rumping down out of a hay loft in a barn once and i dont know how but this yellow jackets nest fell down the back of my shirt and when i hit it basically angered all of the yellow jackets and even after i got the nest out the pheromonse were still on me and i was still getting stung just as bad so i had to run in the hose and take a cold shower again.

I remember this onetime being dared to jump in this small pool of water that was full of leeches and i was paid to do it so i jumped in and got a whole crap load of leeches on me and then the rest of the day my friends were burning and pulling them off of me (ahh those were good memories)
 
I don't have any cool insect stories about myself other than getting bee stings in the eye and such.. But..

My grandfather is 80 years old, and works as a beefarmer. One time the queen got away and settled up in a tall tree. naturally they started swarming up there so he had to capture it before they moved out in the woods. (keep in mind he's 80 years old +) He tried to capture them using a long stick with a bag in the end of it and an old ladder, but failed. So he ran inside and came out with an old shotgun, climbed up the unstable old ladder.. took aim for a minute and blew the whole branch off the tree The cluster of bees fell to the ground and they werent very happy about it ☝
He ran down the ladder and into the cloud of bees. Thats when he realized he forgot the bag inside.. So he went inside once more to get it, and then he jumped into the black cloud of pissed off bees to look for the qeen.. I don't know how long it took, or how many stings he got, but he found it eventually
He has also gotten stung inside his throat from drinking from a beer can. But he just chewed it and swallowed it whole ☝ crazy 'ol geezer :haihai:

one time (when i was like 3 or 4) i was sitting on the porch and i didnt know it but this ant that was just under an 1" long climbed up my shorts and bit ahold of my "pride" and i let out this blood curddleing scream and my parent rushed in and said "what is wrong!!!" i said "something bit my pee pee!!!" and then i reached down and pulled out this hellacious ant and my dad stepped on him but yea that has to be one of my more embarrasing stories i dont share that one too much but i hope you liked it.
 
When i was 3-4 i used to step on bees (no shoes) naturally i got stung a lot, but as soon as the pain passed, i went out for revenge....

one time i caught a scorpion when i was real young, brought it over to my grandma and said "look at this weird thing i found!" she nearly had a heart attack on that one.

then theres this one time when i was about 12, i left an open bag of chips on top of my clean underwear overnight. much to my surprise when i woke up the next morning to get dressed there were a bunch of ants in my underwear, too bad i put them on before i noticed...

Hawai'i has centipedes too. They're bigger than this guy. Keep a clean house free of prey and they won't bug you.

lol because i was 12 and hadnt put my clothes away, they were laying on the couch in my room and so yeah i was sitting there eating chips

Urodacus yaschenkoi is a desert adapted scorpion found throughout Australia's interior. Mating and molting occur in late spring/early summer, whilst young are born 18 months later in late summer/early autumn. Adults reach a size in South Australia of around 70mm from mouth to tip of sting. The species occurs from the Murray river region in South Australia/NW Victoria to the north west of Western Australia.
 
As close as Taiwan and Japan are, I think the original post is the same kind of centipede I encountered in Taipei...IN MY SHOWER. Oh, the fear. I made my escape, and got the landlady to deal with it (oh, the cowardice). Despite my fears, though, I didn't see another one the whole time I lived there. Thank god.
 
they were just out of sight.. living in the walls.. crawling over your face while you slept..

yes and believe me, they are delicious to eat. lots of protein, and when there is almost nothing else around, you'll enjoy them grilled.
ask the aborigines, they'll tell you how many times thes little fellows saved their lives !!!
just that.
 
It's kind of funny. The summer after my senior year, I ran my car off the side of the road. I landed in a ditch and right on top of a yellow jackets' nest. When I finally managed to get out of the car, I stepped right on the nest. They were all over me the whole 1/2 mile run back home. They had gotten under my clothes, they were in my hair, eyes...it was awful. *cringe*[/QUOTE]
