I am totally shocked!

I have nothing to add on this subject, no substantial opinion and nothing really comes to mind..

it's a very odd feeling.. I really feel like all that can be said on the topic has been said and i have to resort to talking about the fact that there is nothing to talk about...

I think it is a case of more of one, less of the other when we hear these kinds of stories about sex in Japan.

What I newspaper read where the young lady said sexual harassment was part of growing up in the city was a quote taken from a girl they just stopped on the street.

I don't know if we can really trust the enjo-kosai numbers either. On one hand you are asking people to fess up to bad behavior, which might keep the numbers low, and on the other hand you have a tendancy to sensationalize sex stories - they tend to grow with each retelling to where we get to the stage that all Japanese young girls are dating for money.

But regardless of if every girl in Ginza is booked solid for months, does that make enjo-kosai is okay? Even if being approached by dirty old men is not part of growing up in the big city, but it happens often enough to result in some girls having a nonchalant attitude towards the practice, I'd say society is turning too blind an eye

I think basically all girls are going to some school are learning that stuff from somewhere. You forgot to add...how many shoes can I buy or do I need?...LOL...that's pretty universal too.

As you said sex is something completely natural, so I fully agree with you.
But it was just the way it was exploited and revealed so shamelessly in front of so many young people, it made me think it was absolutely obscene and even outrageous.
I really think sex is ok and very natural, but I think it should be restricted to private matters.
As for regular porn material, I think it's cheap and frankly I don't care people watch it and enjoy it, but this video fragment was much different from a regular porn video. It really showed me a dark side of the Japanese society.
 

Or if you take the more positive outlook----you could say that the Japanese are more open with their sexuality (spell?) which is what I think. I agree that sex is more of a restricted or private matter but also, it is common to have a discussion about sexual activities in Japan than in America. I mean it can sometimes be brought up per say at the dinner table than in the States (don't take that as obscene discussion but sexuality is not exactly hidden in Japan).

That's my two yen.
 
I never really saw much of the kinky side of Japan while I was there. I don't know how I could have missed it. Well I guess I did see guys checking out porn in front of everyone on trains, love hotels, and hostesses standing on corners trying to lure men, but none of it struck me as being all that strange at the time. I didn't realize it was quite as prevalent as everyone here is making it sound.
 

But sometimes people turn a blind eye (not saying that in a bad way) even if they don't mean to.

You should also know under what kind of surcomstances they both agree. Many times these young girls sell their bodies just to earn some money that they later spend on brand clothes or bags. Of course they are totally free to do with their money whatever they want, but the way they earn it is just not right. There is just a lack of any minimal morality in these girls and who else than the education system is to blame for that? And with education system I mean everything from parents to school to the society in which they live.
 
No one is to blame there, because there is nothing to blame! There is absolutely no lack of morality either - it's certainly not a must-have! Just because you had to suffer through a highly moralic education, this doesn't mean by far that these girls have to share the same bad fate. You are in absolutely no position to decide about the morality of these girls! If they decide out of free choice to earn money this way for stylish clothes, funky bags, whatoever else, they have every right to do so! They are they absolutely only ones who has the right to decide what they do, not some moralizer guys who try to force their faulty morals upon others.

First of all I have never said that I'm the one who is going to force morality on these girls.
Second I have just spoken with a Japanese girl (university student) and she fully agrees with me. To say it with her own words: "oh yes. even junior high school girls, just around 15years, sell their body to middle aged men to get money" "i think the reason why junior high school or high school students wanna get money is to buy bland like Channel, Gucci,... crazy world" So if you think that's normal, then there is something seriously wrong with you too!
And by the way, I am very grateful for the moral education I received from my parents and my society. I absolutely don't consider it a bad fate!
And ideed I am in no position to decide about the morality of these girls, but I am in every position to show my opinion about it!

Hello! It's called Adult Entertainment. What do we expect? A bunch of good-looking guys and girls dancing and singing with church music? These are porn stars who are making money to pay their rents and electricity bills. They look young to you but they have to be 18+ in order to perform on TV and movie, last time I checked.

Let me repeat myself - this is just adult entertainment, a very competitive industry in Japan. I am not saying porn is good or bad. But in order to survive in the industry, producers have to come up with outrageous stuff to attract viewers.

Back to first topic : I have seen the video Wouter talked about. It can be found on several websites (I won't put link here, it is not the purpose).
Yes, it is TV show. Not so common, but I think that it is very close to kind of Chippendales show. Here women can touch man and more. About the girls, well, as it was said, Japanese girls look younger than they actually are, that's why you thought they are young girls. Even some look like that, I don't think that something like that can happen on Japanese TV. The girl who finally make love with one of the man won at JunKenPo game against other girls, and she really really looked Happy !!
Anyway, I found this video very funny (and ... interesting ^^). Girls are so crazy on this video that you can't hold laugh !
I know this kind of show exists in Paris, and undoubtly manywhere else, the only differense is that it is not shown on French TV ... unfortunatly

This is my first topic on this board and it's already going wrong.
My apologies to those I have offended, it was not my intention.
I just wanted to make a contribution to the board by starting what seemed to me an interesting and discussable topic.

Anyway, I don't consider Japanese girls only as sex objects, I respect them as much as anyone else.
This being said, I think it's maybe best to put an end to this unless we can discuss about it in a cultured way.

Well to summarize, that show was almost certainly porn, not regular TV (even though it may have looked like it). So it doesn't make much sense to even discuss it. We all know what happens on pornos.


They do show breasts on Japanese late night tv. At least they used to. Don't tell me they stopped this wonderful tradition!
 

Yep, I've officially seen it and it is not regular TV. They would never show something like that on TV so it's a porno movie/spoof...whatever.

And they still have the wonderful tradition still going on.....I just miss it .....
