Hi every one!

My names Bianca

well i am a White British woman marred to a Japanese man with one child of 3.
we have been married for 4 years. my husband has been living in the uk for 12 years. he has a steady job.

he is now feeling the age so to speek he is now 37 and He wants to move back home to Kobe Japan so we can have a better life there.

I love Japan but i am scared to live there for many reasons. i am frightened of being isolated and i tried so many times to get to understand Japanese and find it hard to stick to my useless brain. i lack confidence in most things.

and i am a little bit lazy not very motivated person since i have had long term depression. and i am going to diserpoint his parents. because of this..

i wish to make some Friends with some Mix race family's especially who live in the Kobe region. on line 1st as i still live in England. he plans to do this in 2 years. so i need to prepare my self...

sorry if i don't make any sence, i am not very good at writing stuff

thanks
Bianca

If you do have to end up going, Kobe is one of the better places to go. I could be difficult getting Japanese friends at first if you don't know Japanese, but there are plenty of foriegners in the Kobe area that you could link up with and make frineds. Deffinately one of the better places to go for someone who does not speack Japanese.

Thats allright and besides I am the most important on this forum so you got the best response! Just kidding!

Seriously though, I really don't think you have that much to worry about, it may take some time, but you will find some people living here for the long haul. And these people know your pain ,so they may be able to relate to you and your situation and offer advise. I met met some great people over here, so I am sure you will be fine.

There will definitely be a lot of adjustment to do. My best advice would be to try to get out there and interact with people around you instead of isolating yourself from them. Find activities that get you out and socializing, work on your language skills, write about your experiences, whatever keep you sane.

Greetings from the Japan Alps, Bianca san, and welcome to JREF !

I too, will say that there's not that much to worry about, really, and better than worrying, trying to apply creative thinking (along the lines of what nice gaijin has touched on) little by little will be good to. You have made one good choice of joining up here on JREF. We are a world-wide on-line community, and there are some members in that general area of Japan as well.

I am married to a little Japanese girl, and we have three monsters (otherwise boys). It will take some getting used to living here, but by doing some on-line checking out about the area, working on learning whatever degree of Japanese you can (and your hubby can help there, I'm sure), and trying to communicate with his family here, in whatever way....by sending cards, or writting letters...even if it's all in English...it's the thought that counts. In otherwords, making connections, little by little, one step at a time.

Think positive, and try to push yourself in that direction. If your depression is of the clinical type, it might be good to read up on it, know it well, and find ways to handle it as best you can too. It can be done; 'tis not impossible...the brain does have some degree of flexibility !! I wish you the best !! MM
