Wow that's odd. Your home town probably isn't 250 miles from where I reside. I'm in southern Indiana, your grammar did throw me off ha. Probably because of the age difference, I'm 25. How in the world does someone from Tennessee turn to Japanese for a second language? People think I'm weird for studying jap until I tell them I work for Toyota, so what made you wanna learn?I take it you mean you don't hear people speak in grammatically correct complete sentences. I am from a hick town in West Tennessee and I speak like I'm from a hick town in West Tennessee, but that doesn't mean I can't write English well. I grew up in the era when they still taught English grammar in school. We had grammar every year from fourth grade until graduation and had spelling as a separate subject from about the fourth through sixth grades, if memory serves correctly.
I learned Japanese because it comes in incredibly handy living in Japan.
Try to avoid using "jap" instead of "Japanese" as the shortened version has a past association with strong racist sentiments. People who go around looking for things to be offended about will give you grief over it, regardless of whether you mean anything by it or not.

Yeah I figured. The bilingual job (which I'm trying to learn Japanese for) has paid trips to Japan occasionally. Mostly around the US. Speaking of which, what is your profession? Are you a bilingual analyst or something?The reason I asked was because a felony conviction would mean you would be barred from entering Japan. Misdemeanors don't count.
