Hokkaido Flower Season

Hi, All,

I saw some photos of Hokkaido many years ago with sunflower fields and a field of bright red flowers (I think called Sangosou). I want to visit Hokkaido during those period. I googled and found that the season for Sunflowers (mid July - Oct) and Sangosou (Late Aug - Late Sep). So I am planning to visit Hokkaido in Sep so that I get to see both flowers.

My Lonely Planet for Japan doesn't say anything about the place to find these flowers. Can someone advise on where? And also I heard that the weather is changing so maybe the season starts earlier. Is this true?

Until I know where these flower fields are, I have no idea of how I could get around to these areas. I would be travelling alone and could speak bare minimum Japanese. So any advice would be appreciated.

Most of the Japanese cannot speak English.
I cannot speak English, too.
Because there is the staff who can speak English in a sightseeing spot, they help you.
Even if you demand help from the person who cannot speak English,
They will help you with some kind of methods.
"The hotel where you stay" at or "the place that you want to go",
When you write it to the card beforehand, we are easy to understand it.

By the way, please do not catch cold because Hokkaido of September is cold.
Tokyo of September is summer, but Hokkaido is autumn.

I live in Tokyo now.
The hometown is Fukuoka of Kyushu.
Because I go touring Hokkaido by motorcycle in the summer every year,
I know a climate and a noted place of Hokkaido of the summer.

Buta-don of Obihiro is famous.

I want to go to eat in this summer.

Hi all,

I found the website just now, while searching about sunflower park in hokkaido.
I hope you are still here to answer my questions.

I am planning to go Tokyo mid September for 9 days, and I was thinking if I can go to Hokkaido too ..

So, what I want to ask you are:
1. Do u think 3 days are enough to spend time in Hokkaido? I use JR rail pass, so it takes a half day from Tokyo to Hokkaido rite?
2. Is it still possible to see sunflower fields on mid September?

When you use a railroad
It takes it from Tokyo to Hakodate of Hokkaido more than six hours
It takes it from Hakodate to Sapporo more than three hours.
It takes it from Sapporo to Abashiri more than three hours.

It is a combination of an express bus and the ferry
You leave Tokyo at 14:00
