ok... so i FINALY got round to watching this from my Ring boxset (i don't actually own a DVD player you see 😌) and... migod....

it had me in tears completely.... i thought it to be one of the most beautiful films i've ever seen
i know it's hardly original, and a pretty basic idea, but i thought the whole thing was done extreemly well.

i haven't read Ozama Tezuka's manga which it was based on... but i'd very much like to now, is it also called 'Sleeping Bride'?

i thought the gril who played Yumi portrayed her cherecter excelently, and in all repects i think it was a difficult part to play....
i thought they'd chose the actors very well too... because their teenage selevs actually looked very much like their younger selves...

anyway... i was just wondering what others thought to it...
and... i'm sure i've probably read why, but i've forgotten - why was it never released properly?

It pretty much had the same effect on me.
Before I saw it I read a review saying that it was a film only suitable for teenage girls - I think the reviewer was disappointed it wasn't more scary.

Like you say,it's quite a basic idea and the first part of the film is quite repetetive, but the way it's told is so touching and the intensity of the boy's love for Yumi is put across really well. He will love her forever, no matter what.
I was in a right state at the end of this film. If you want a good cry - watch it! If you want another Ringu - don't bother. 😭

yeah

me and my friend watched it and thought it would be another horror.... but... as soon as that cute sound track started playing, we soon realised it wasn't...

then we started to worry because we were getting really girly whilst watching it :D

but yes... it was so sad!

but... i was also suprised quite a bit by Yuichi's mother....
i'm not sure when it was bassed, but it seems like soon-ish after the war.. because there's a lot of westernisation in it...

but... you've got a single mother - drinking BEER (which shocked me the most) and completly being a... bit of a Bohemia in my opinion 😌
i loved her XD

but during the wedding, lol... i kept on screaming at her
'i know youre Japanese but just hug the man already!'
😌 i think Yumi's dad needed it 😊
