Just sticking my old head through the door to say "Ohayo !" To everybody ...

Feel kinda lost - but I guess I'll get the hang of it soon !

Am particularly interested in Naval and Aviation History - plus Sake and food, of course ! Am also trying to learn Japanese - so I might call on help from time to time .....

Glad to see you here! This site is the best!!! I hope you have as much fun as I'm having.

Hey there! Another aviator fan.

I don't suppose you fly IL-2 Sturmovik do ya?

Welcome!

I don't know much about Naval and aviation history, but I do like your avatar!

Thanks for the welcome, guys ! Domo Arigato!

And yes ... I did come up with an avatar !

And, sorry Rudel ... I don't fly a Stormovik !

All the best folks.

Heeey, Ohayo, glad you found this place.
I was so happy when I got here, and loving every bit of it.
It is a bit huge, but that's what makes it so good.
This place is alive!
Dig around for your favorite topics.
Also the "everything Japanes" forum and the "chit-chat" fortum are interesting just to read people's ideas.

Oh, and here's a good one.
If you click on "Currently Active Users" on the lower left to view who's on-line, you can also pick up what others find interesting. Especially for older material that is hard to locate.
Combine that with the "search" function on top, this place will keep you busy.

Have fun, see you around!

Hi Sensuikan San ! Welcome To The Forum !!

Make sure all 4 tubes are loaded and fire 3 & 4 ! Like your avatar for sure! Glad you found us. Nice to have more over 50 members.

Sorry folks !
I was discourteous enough yesterday not to drop in here and thank all you guys for your welcomes again ! Thanks ! I'm starting to feel at home already !

And a special note to Frank ( - and I'm in the ghastly position of being able to flatter him by calling him "young man" !) : Thanks ! I guess we "geezers" must stick together surrounded by all this youth !

I must confess, though.... I'm quite refreshed and encouraged to see all these young folks engaging themselves with something so positive and worthwhile ! Gives me back my faith in human nature !

(PS, Frank - the avatar is a detail from one of my paintings - it's a Japanese C class I-Boat, and she has six forward tubes !)

Hello, Sensuikan San! Great artwork of yours!
And you're very right about this place being positive. I began to see the internet as a good thing for humans only after being here. I don't know much about naval equipment, but I find it more interesting because it comes from you!

I don't suppose you can post some of your artwork? You have to consider it can be downloaded by anyone, if it's not watermarked or download-blocked. The little I see from the avatar sure looks great!

Hi Frank .... everybody .... !

What the heck .... why not .... !

Now - all I have to do is work out how to do this ..... and choose something with an appropriate theme ....

Let's try this little portrait of Tagami Meiji - the skipper of I-25 when it launched a small seaplane to bomb Oregon during WWII

My God !!!

You ARE good! How long did it take to develope such beautiful talent? I bet you must have works in a museum somewhere? I go to several local art shows a year and nothing I've seen over the years compares to your art! Do you have a website by any chance?

Frank

Thanks for the kind words, Frank ... but, honestly ... my stuff's not that good !

I admit to some formal training 'way back in the '50's at school, but other than that, I claim to be "self taught". I didn't, actually, touch a brush between (about) 1978 and 1994 - when I found myself "downsized" and out of work ! I said "dammit" and didn't even look for a job for 12 months ! But I painted every day. Started "from scratch". Very hard ! (You young folks ..... take heart ! Happens to all of us !)

Yes - I do have a website (deep breath ... you're gonna find out my name etc. etc. ..... ) try http://www.skybirdart.com - but please don't laugh at my early attempts with the Japanese version of the site! Not to mention that the home page must be updated ... (Illness intervened .... !)

No ! Let me re-phrase that .... have a good laugh ....!

Kindest Regards,

"Herr U-Boot"

I also want to give you a welcoming hug!!!

Welcome!!! It is always nice to have new history-interested members, please post some of your interests and stay active ok? ;-)

Greetings from the land of Vikings, Denmark

HISTORY & ART - WOW !

Love the write ups with the pictures. I love subs, my dad was a submariner and I joined the Navy for 6 years to serve on nuke-subs(another story). The picture of the sub in the Aleutians bought back memories! I was stationed on Adak Island 72 -73. Your site is now bookmarked in my favorites, thanks for sharing!
