Help rephrasing a few things; distress while explanation a medical emergency

Hello there guys,

Yesterday I had to deal with a frustrating situation when a japanese acquaintance called me asking for some explanations about the health condition of my sister in law(she went to the hospital with a pneumothorax).

Needless to say I wasnt prepared to deal with the situation and this made me feel rather mad when the call was over.

1st - I tried to explain the name of the condition, "pneumothorax", I surelly didnt know that in japanese, so I tried to be as brief as possible, I said. [ 美幸は運転していたとき、胸が痛くなって、息もちゃんとできなくなりそうで、入院させてしまった。 医者さんは肺に気体の泡が入ってしまいましたと診断したんです。]

The bolded parts are my shame, I didnt really want to use ちゃんと in that situation but my vocabulary(at least my active one) failed on me, also 気体の泡 was a rather strange way of describing the situation, (I tried to say that, she got an air bubble between the lung and the pleura(I didnt know at that time it was called 胸膜 ,it could be forgiven as it is 専用語 ) , but I felt like the biggest mistake was using 気体、I didnt get a 相槌 from the person after saying that, and she could probable misunderstood it for a 期待 due to my anxiety and sloppy pronouncing。

2nd - I tried to explain that the procedure to remove the bubble was not complicated [だけど、もう手当てを早く受けましたね。 簡単な手術だったので、もう大丈夫。] , but the person replied as if "Wow, she had to undergo a surgery?" picking the word 手術 was a mistake I guess, but i couldnt find a way to say "a simple medical procedure" [would anyone suggest a better way of phrasing it?].

well, thats it guys, I'm asking for any hint or even a rephrasing of my words, Ive been dealing with a lot of spoken japanese last weeks and yesterday's call was one of the most frustrating moments I've had to deal with.

I think 気体の泡 is understandable. Indeed it's a bit awkward, though. 空気の泡 might be somewhat better, but the best choice would be 気泡.

処置 is the most appropriate word.

１－気泡ですかね。 日本人は気泡って聞いたらほとんど、「空気の泡」の思いつきが出てきますか とりとりべさん?
２－"簡単な処置" だけでいいですか

気泡 is a bit stiff/academic, so it's not commonly used in daily conversation, but no problem to use in those medical situation.

Understandable, but sounds like "Miyuki looked like she was about to have difficulty breathing"
Maybe something like 呼吸があらくなりました or 呼吸（息）が苦しくなりました. 呼吸困難 is a set phrase you often here, but maybe a bit too heavy in your case.
For simple medical procedure, couldn't you also say お医者さんで手当をしてもらって、よくなりました。

Also well, I am still kinda rookie at conversations , its been 2 years since I began my studies and Ive never been to japan so I tend to overthink sometimes. But I'll take note of your suggestion so that I can use it as a set phrase

You might want to take another look at 入院させてしまった as it sounds like you made her 入院.

You can use 入院になる (conjugate as appropriate) for a simple and common way of expressing it. Another useful vocabulary item is 即入院.

I picked the causative form as a result of my anxiety, but indeed it did not fit the real situation, as the only thing who created the emergency was the abrupt pain in the chest and short breath, she didnt have to be "forced" to 入院 .

also, for 即入院, does the need for an auxiliary verb remain, or can I say 「胸が痛くなって、呼吸が苦しくなって、即入院だった」 ?

It is just like 入院 except it indicates the situation was serious enough the patient required immediate hospitalization. Grammatically there is no difference.
