is there any info on these the only info i have is
IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVAL OFFICER'S KABUTO HELMET AWARD DATED (INSCRIBED) SHOWA 10 WHICH WAS IN 1935. MADE FROM CAST IRON WITH GOLD AND BRASS HIGHLIGHTS. .MEASURES 15 CENTIMETERS TALL BY 12cm IN DIAMETER.

海軍検定 was a test for Navy sailors to check their skills. It's done every year, and the award was given to sailors who passed the test. Kabuto was used as the award from 1935 to 1937. The design of the award differed depending on the year, for instance a silver cup in 1934, and a commemorative shield in 1938.

You can see other designs like a portrait doll of Admiral Tōgō Heihachirō or ceramic decorative plate.

what does the 1936 and 1937 awards look like when did they stop making these? what year did they start . i have saved pictures of the 1934 1935 1938 1939 1940 1941. thank you for your help,

As Toritoribe said, the design for those years is the same as 1935. Here's a 1936 one:

the guy i got this helmet from had another one in the box and it was different there was something else on top not a dragon. i emailed him to ask about the year. the other one was sold already .

Out of curiosity, how much do they go for? In Japan here's one selling for less than $20 including shipping.

That would be the 1937 version. (Incidentally, this kabuto was auctioned for 8279 yen (approximately 80 USD) with the original wood box.)

According to the following antique shop, 海軍検定褒章 was formerly called 海軍戦技褒章 or 海軍戦技章 (戦技 means "battle/war skills"). It started in September 1911, and they changed the name to 海軍検定褒章 in December 1928.
