I'd like to say hello, my name is Brent.

I spent time in Japan in the 2000's. I like fishing, and the fishing in Japan was great. I'd like to get back there to fish and hunt in my old age.

I currently work in additive manufacturing, which is 3D printing of metals, plastics and more for Aerospace applications, as well as CNC machining.

Welcome to the board! My friend's father was really into fishing, I think he mostly spent time on the rivers in Aichi. My uncle up in Oregon is a big sportsman and goes out on the coast to fish, crab, and clam.

I'm personally more interested in your work, I love the potential of additive manufacturing for prototyping, as well as CNC routers, plasma and waterjet cutters, and wire edm. I've played a little with extrusion 3D printing and have a small laser myself, been tempted to get an SLA resin printer for the precision it's capable of. Too many hobbies, never enough time

Ocean. Japan has some truly unique deep ocean fishing, with unique species only found there. I enjoy cuttlefish and squid fishing, there's so many varieties. There's the legendary Kannagi grouper, and in many places you can fish for hon maguro. If you get a fisheries license, you can take many kinds of game fish and crustaceans. From Hokkaido to Okinawa there's so many fishing options it's truly limitless, plus the Japanese protect their fisheries so the waters are not fished out like in most of asia.

I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

There's also the plentiful bear in Hokkaido that are borderline nuisance and the unlimited all you can catch deer.

The improvements in technology are really something. You can now print an entire metal hatch with the bulkhead in 24 hours, hinges and all. It's incredibly expensive, something around 500 usd per KG of material. I would recommend you look into the Bambu Labs P1P, it's around 600 usd and has been disruptive to all other tech rendering it obsolete in one year. SLA, you can buy a 12k resolution printer for around $1500 usd that can print nanometer accurate parts. The star trek replicator is coming, but not in my lifetime.
 
Hmmm. Any chance you can print the outershell (hull) of a submersible that can withstand depths of up to 12,500 feet? Asking for a friend.
