Hello,
It seems just easy to say "my name is ..., I'm from ...." and so on. Yes, I can say that I'm M.A., that I was born in S., a small city in the Kingdom of Morocco, that I'm 21 years old... but is this a description of my inner self ? Is that me ? My answer is no. Such information is more of an administrative value, and it merely reflects the cultural and ideological inclinations of the people whom "they" call "my parents", and of the geographical region "they" call "my country".
Who am I then ? If I am to formulate my inherent feelings and thoughts into words, I can say, as the Greek philosopher Diogene said more than 20 centuries ago, I am the universal citizen. I am one of the first sons of globalization in its cultural dimension, as I have rid my mind of all forms of patriotism or racism, be it cultural, ideological, or else (or so I think at least)... I am also a freethinker, someone who thinks that people should think for themselves, and not totally rely on centuries old structures of thought, without analyzing them.
Who am I ? I am Gregory Iceson. That's the name that I chose for myself and I'm very proud of it. "M.A." is just a the social interface that I'm using here, in this geographical region called Morocco, but in a freer place I wouldn't need an interface to hide my inner self, therefore I wouldn't need "him".
The forums seem just interesting and I think that I'll stay very long in here...
