Hi everyone!

My name is Anya and I'm 20 years old. Originally I'm from Russia but at the age of 6 I moved to South Africa and then to the UK. I love meeting new people and learning about cultures and traditions. Japan is the country I'm most interested in. It's just so unique!
Other interests include retro music and films...
Anyway, see you guys later! It feels nice to have joined such a friendly community.

Hiya

Have fun and don't take everything said seriously. This is a fun, happy place and I've not been here long either

Welcome to the fora, Dewberry! Enjoy your time with us!

Hello, Dewberry. Nice to have you with us.
This IS a friendly place, and always lots of actvity going on.
Whatever you're interested in at the moment, either you'll find it posted somewhere, or you can just put up a new one and someone's bound to respond.
A born traveller, aren't you?
Welcome to Japan on-line!

Hello Lexico!
Thanks for your warm welcome! I'm sure I'll have fun here. I have read many posts and it looks like a great place for discussions. Plus it's verbal abuse-free...
Anyway, are you from Russia?

My, that was quick!
You're quite welcome. It is quite friendly here, even during debates, people somehow know to keep the cool. Amazing civil actually. It's a skill that I need to learn more. Civil as in civilzed, not as in Civil War.

No, not from Russia, but probably headed there sooner or later! Haha...
I had just a little Russian years back most of which I forgot.
Ah...no much to learn and relearn!
Do you still speak Russian in the family?

Hi Lexico!
I still speak Russian. Would be such a shame to forget your own language!!! My parents always speak Russian at home but when we go out we speak English. I don't know...My dad made it a rule. Maybe it's something to do with British people being a bit...negative about foreigners.

Hi, Dewberry!
Great! It's good you didn't forget, especially if you left the fatherland so early.
I almost forgot to speak my Korean after 2 1/2 yrs away, so you're doing pretty good.
Your father probably did the wise thing; as a foreigner adjusting to the new environment, its both training the family to adjust, and also a little etiqutte for the host country.
Hey, bilinguial, right? Good for you. I think we had some Russian speakers a while back (I've been here less than two months, so not sure.). You sould be able to meet some ex-patriots on this forum.
Have you voted in the "What languages do you speak?" poll?
There's also the "How many languages do you speak" thread.
You can also look up members with the "serach" function.

Konnichiwa Dewberry-san!
