I am the Broken Monkey, or Erik.
Swedish, just arrived in japan but have been here a few times before including a one year japanese-study-stay.
Plan to stay in Gifu or Aichi close to Gifu to be near my wife's family. I am married to a japanese woman.
About to start looking for a job, but have few ideas on what to aim fo. Not being a native english speaker, and having done stuides at a swedish university that I could turn in to a degree, seem to be reasons for me to look for something other than a job teaching english.
I am 30+ and we have two small kids.

Welcome! Like with all forums these days, fresh blood is a good thing.

I'm a little older, and with just one kid, but I'm enjoying my time here.

Welcome aboard, Eric!

Hi!

You could get an English teaching job if your English is decent enough.
Most schools only require you to be a native speaker because of the work visa. As you are married to a Japanese citizen, that won't be an issue, so I think your chances are quite good, especially if you live in the countryside.

Gifu is really great, I especially love Gujo-Hachiman. I hope you'll enjoy it there!
