Travel Haikyo / Urbex Trip 2014 - Seeking Exploring Buddy

I'm hoping to travel to Japan mid-year (June/July) from Australia and would like to travel to see some Haikyo. I will most likely be travelling alone (or without other explorers) so was hoping to organise collaborating with anybody else planning on doing the same thing who might be in a similar situation.
 
I'd like to go there if I'm anywhere near the area, and I plan on travelling, but I'm still working out where everything is on a map at this point.
 
Awesome, I have seen your page and love the spots you've seen. I've messaged you on your page Will have to organise a plane ticket so I can really get this plan into action, but great to know you guys are keen to collaborate, this is really good news. The exploring plan is now in full swing
 
Gunkanjima is certainly a good choice, but Japan has a lot of haikyos to offer.

I was also impressed by a hotel ruin next to castle ruins on Okinawa's main island.

If you're interested in an island that was wiped off the maps during WWII as they illegally produced chemical weapons there, then I recommend Okunoshima in Hiroshima. It's also known as Rabbit Island.

But yeah, Michael (Gakuranman) is the haikyo expert here, so better stay in contact with him! ^^

Hi Brever. I live in Sapporo, Northern Japan and have just had a look on haikyo. We had had more railway tracks before the ownership was privatised. Some old railway bridges and tracks can still be seen, especially in the rural areas. Even in Sapporo, old railway tracks have been transformed into bike ways due to changing the routes of the railway line. Other information in Sapporo can be seen on the link made at the bottom. Hey Brever. I should have informed that only bicycles and pedestrians (no motorbike) are allowed to use the bike way (old railway tracks) in Sapporo. The bike way is between Higashi Sapporo in the east suburb and Kita Hiroshima, neighbouring town. I hope you enjoy cycling and travelling!

Awaji Island Trip

Just putting it out there that I'll be heading down to Iwaji Island for a couple of days of haikyo / exploring if anyone is keen to tag along. I'll have my bike for transport (I'll be taking a bus to get me halfway and bikes need to be in bags), otherwise anyone with a vehicle or camping equipment would also be awesome because unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any budget accommodation until you hit the southern campsite so I'm relying on sleeping in some of the nicer spots. Don't be shy.

How to be in Japan without doing & experiencing Haikyo !
Michael, I sent you (FB page) a mail after reading articles online... and here you are too !!!
Anyway, I ll go there with few friends, but I m the one into Haikyo and will decide on places to go, with you (r help).
Therefore, I m eager to discuss with you where I should spend a 2 days trip like Brever mention....
