Grammatical question from a book.

Reading a book right now: 雪の断章
Like it, recommend it, one passage strucked me with awe and want to share it with you'all.
Not because I like it that much though


ただ出逢った別れたというのではなく、出逢いによっていつの心明るく芽吹きの希望となって形づくられるとしたらそれはもう一人の生き方を方向づけることであり、そこには目に見えない何者かの意志が存在するのではないだろうか。

出逢った別れた is I guess a hypothetical question.

Can it not be written as


出逢ってのか別れたのか。。。

Unless of course it is meant as a continuitive action or event, not just a philosophical hypothesis ^^

出逢った別れた is listing two events; 「出逢った」「別れた」 or 出逢ったり別れたり.

Isn't there a typo in 出逢いによっていつの心明るく? It doesn't make sense.

Good point! A が particle between kokoro and akaruku is missing

いつの心が明るく still doesn't make sense. There must be another typo (or other typos) there.

I see the compilation error. You wrote いつの心 but the text says 一つの心 (ひとつの心). There's an another mistranscription too.

There is one more typo. The correct one is 出逢いによって一つの心が明るく芽吹き(の is unnecessary)希望となって形づくられるとしたら. If it's 芽吹きの, 芽吹き is a noun, but actually 芽吹き is the continuous usage of the -masu stem of the verb 芽吹く here, i.e., it's 出逢いによって一つの心が明るく芽吹き、希望となって形づくられるとしたら.

The author would intentionally use the hiragana version なにものか in the original text to add ambiguity to the word. Indeed, なにものか can be 何者か, but 者 is usually only used for "person/people", and there is another interpretation 何物か for "thing" or other than "person/people". なにものか actually refers to （大きな）自然 (or, 神, 天 or something like that), as in the next sentence, so the author would think 何者か is not so appropriate here.

As you can see in these examples, it's important to give the quotation as faithful as possible to the original text to get correct and useful answers, needless to say.
