Google translate confusion of "10th April"

I know google translate isn't the best translation software, but I'm getting mixed messages from it, one being "10th April", according to the pronunction of the japanese letters "4月10日" its "4 Tsuki 10-nichi" but the robot voice thing is saying "shigatsu tooka", are they both interchangable?

No. 4月 is read the same as 四月 and 10日 as 十日. Arabic numerals (0-9) are often used in Japanese to save space - e.g. 489万 instead of 四百八十九万 but they should be read as the equivalent Japanese number.

"Gatsu" is for months of the year, whereas "tsuki (or kagetsu)" is month-long periods. "Nichi" indeed can refer to days of the month, but "ka" is used for 10日. See the following explanation on wiki.

thanks, i was saying google translate was telling me it was "4 tsuki 10 nichi", i would say "shigatsu tooka"
