Ginza and Tsukiji

For those of you who have been to Ginza: does it have a fishy smell in the air because of the Tsukiji fish market near by? If so, does anyone reccomend a good place to stay in Tokyo? Thanks ^_^

Even Tsukiji doesn't have an appreciably fishy smell in the air.

The only thing "fishy" in the air in Ginza are the oji-san's with the extremely hot babe at their arm carrying loads of shopping bags

Nope, Ginza smells fine. Where in Tokyo do you want to stay? There are many nice places to stay and the subway system is such that wherever you stay, it's never that far from any place in Tokyo.

Before my first trip there, I've been 3 times now in the past 8 months, I was really concerned where I was going to stay because I didn't want to be too far from certain areas. But now that I've been there 3 times, I can honestly say that you will be astounded by the precision and vast coverage of the subway system throughout Tokyo.

People who live in Tokyo really do not need cars...it's that simple.

Quite frankly, everything is rather expensive in Tokyo. I'm sure you can look around for cheaper accomodations/meals but on average Tokyo is like living in New York City.

I'd prefer Shibuya over Ginza (price-wise) or Roppongi.

Uh...last time I looked I was really in Japan. They don't normally sell things on the curb around where I am, though. Especially cars. I asked for the clarification in hopes of running across some bargains for myself.

Depends on what you want to buy...the girls are cheap in Harajuku on Saturdays.
