Gentsuki rules

To be honest with you I can not recall ever seeing a 50cc scooter ever doing anything less than the speed limit on roads here.
Which means that they are travelling along at 40, 50, 60, and in some cases flying by me at 80kph or more....and not a cop in the world in sight.
I cant recall either in over 2 decades of living here of seeing a cop pulling over a scooter for going over 30.
However idiots with no helmets, 2 and 3 people on the 50cc bike, that's a different story.

Thanks! I guess I will go with the flow of traffic and drive at whatever speed is most comfortable in whatever place. That's probably the way to go. And what speed is comfortable is somewhat conservative for me in general.
Yeah, the helmet is a must.. and no way a second person would fit on my bike anyhow

You will get done, done and done! I see more gensuki's get pulled over than any other vehicle. And so they should, I hate them with a passion.

Not all gentsuki are 50cc bikes. There are 100cc, 125cc, etc etc. On the smaller ones, such as the 100cc, it is hard to tell them apart from the 50cc just by a glance.
At any rate, the majority of times I have seen gentsuki pulled over (and I have seen it a lot) was for being in places they weren't supposed to be. A favorite tactic of Tokyo traffic cops is to wait on the far side of an overpass and catch 1) cars for seatbelt violations and 2) 50cc scooters for being on the overpass, if it happens to be one they are forbidden from using.
That, and the weird thing about the right turn at some intersections.
